It's a rainy, yucky day in Nova Scotia. So black was the order of the day.
Dress: Bryn Walker from Cha Cha Palace in Winnipeg
Belt: Le Chateau
Slip: ?
Shoes: Fluevog Presence | Impel
This dress has an Asian/Kimono feel because it has inset pieces that are kind of hard to explain.
I'm trying to show the squareness of the bottom of the dress, not entirely successfully.
The fabric is quite thick and it contains metal threads so that the piece holds its shape. It's really quite a unique thing.
Most of my shoes are at my husband's studio so you'll be seeing these a lot until get them back.
I'm wearing my scissors necklace and this cute dog/cat charm. SMOOCH!

Paris And Rome Haul
Hello everyone, I'm so sorry for being MIA this past week- I've been really busy since coming back from Paris, so hopefully I'll be back to regular blogging soon :) I got some really lovely things from Paris and Rome, so I thought I would do a quick post to show some of them:
I've always wanted something from Tiffany and Co, and this gorgeous heart shaped necklace definitely called my name-it's so pretty <3
I fell in love with the Givenchy Nightingale the first time I saw it on my mom, so when I spotted this navy blue one, I fell in love! I love the shape, and the colour is so versatile!
This peach coloured Zara bag is just right for spring, I'm in love with pastels at the moment, so this bag is definitely right up my alley:) And of course, my Michael Kors bag which I posted about in my previous post- I adore the silver contrast to the black!
I've also been on the lookout for the perfect leather jacket, and this one from Zara fits the bill, I love the gold detailing, along with the zipper effects! The Zara blazer is gorgeous too, it has a subtle peplum fit, and the studs on the shoulder are gorgeous.

Oh my word, these Isabel Marant sneakers are so cool, I love the built in wedge and the colour is so stunning- I can't wait to wear them in summer with so many different outfits!
The Zara shorts are also on my list for summer outfits, they're just perfect for hot days where you want something fun to wear-but at the same time will be comfortable! These are definitely that item:) I love the studded details on all of them, and the pastel pink ones are such a lovely colour.
Have a wonderful day everyone!!

We must be working for the skin trade
Back to work, back to the grind, workity work work work. BLAH.
This is how I felt going back to work today (do not watch this if you are offended by swear words)
I haven't been sleeping very well lately - my brain keeps thinking and I can't shut it off - so I kind of made it through the day in a daze. I'm definitely not feeling myself.
It's starting to cool off a little bit so I was able to wear this topper that I bought a few months ago.
Topper: April Cornell via Value Village
Dress: Shabby Apple (last worn here)
Shoes: Liebling
This topper has a flappery feel to it with it's squareish shape and drop waist. I like the asymmetrical hem. The bottom piece is made of chiffon or tulle so it floats around rather than just hanging.
The back got rumpled - hazard of working at a desk all day.
I had over 200 emails to sort through today. Once I deleted the junk, luckily there were less than 100 that needed to be read more closely.
The real happiness of this outfit is the shoes.
I love everything about these shoes. The colour, the shape, the heel - everything. I'm glad I finally gave in and bought them.
They make me feel pretty and maybe a little happy.
I'm looking to make a change in my life so I'm going to have to curb the shopping.

Bata Shoe Museum part 2
First off, my apologies for the quality of these photos. My camera's battery ran out before I got to this exhibit so I had to resort to using my iPhone.
This exhibit was of shoes from Parisian shoe designer Roger Vivier. Vivier was a shoe designer at Dior under Christian Dior from 1953-1963 and was the creator of the stiletto heel. He also created other unique heel designs which led to his being let go by Dior and going out on his own to create his own shoe line.
Blue silk shoes designed for the House of Dior.
I love the poppy design on the toe of these shoes and the yellow heel. There are also jewels on the flowers which look like water droplets. The intricacy in the design and manufacture is evident.
This is a simple shoe until you look at the hell. This is Vivier's "comma heel". The bottom of the heel is situated right below the middle of the heel and it's not very high so wearing this shoe is not awkward.
Another comma heel, but more flashy with pink silk and lots of jewels.
The beginning of the stiletto, here in bright orange. Beautiful!
In the 1960s, Vivier created the "Tibet heel" which is simple and doesn't take attention away from the ruffles on the vamp.
I love these blue, jeweled and feathered heels. Works of art!
As are these fabric, jeweled, lacy bottine with the Polichinelle heel. These bottines were also made with needle thin stilettos.
Typical stiletto made with silk and embroidery.
Vivier also designed single shoes and boots to be sold as works of art rather than to be worn. Seems a shame!
Later in life he also created these lovely papercuts.
This is a wonderful exhibit full showing the evolution of design. Highly recommended for lovers of shoes, design, art or beauty.
While in TO, I also visited the Royal Ontario Museum. There was a dinosaur exhibit on which was interesting (SCIENCE!) but I took a few photos from their clothing and textile exhibit that was unfortunately being reconstructed so there were a lot of empty spaces. Was still interesting though.

Signed with a home tattoo
I'm back home after my whirlwind trip to Toronto where I went to two museums, bought 3 pairs of shoes and got to spend a bit of time with my sister. I mostly had fun.
Here's one of the pairs of shoes I bought.
Necklace: Etsy
Dress: Modcloth (last worn here)
Belt: Le Chateau (for $0.99)
Leggings: H&M (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Presence | Impel (in Cheetah)
The belt has a baroque-ish pattern on it.
Better look at the shoes.
These leggings are actually full length but I have tucked about 9" up underneath. I intend to shorten them at some point.

Bata Shoe Museum part 1
"To wear dreams on one's feet is to begin to give a reality to one's dreams."
Sorry for the radio silence but I've been in Toronto for the last two days. As you may know, I was supposed to be attending two Duran Duran concerts this weekend but after they were cancelled I decided to come to Toronto anyway and just hang out.
The thing I most wanted to do was visit the Bata Shoe Museum. They had two exhibits on that were of interest to me. One on the Roaring 20s and one of shoes by Roger Vivier.
This post will focus on the Roaring 20s shoes. My good camera's battery ran out after this exhibit so the Roger Vivier photos were taken with my iPhone and are a bit crappy.
Without further ado
Though clothes in the 1920s became more simple with long, monochromatic shift dresses with dropped waists, shoes and accessories became more elaborate as evidenced by this cloche and these elaborately designed shoes.
Mary-jane straps and t-straps feature prominently during this era.
These shoes were my favourite for a while.
In incomparable Louise Brooks with her ubiquitous flapper bob.
These pretty spectator shoes are pretty plain when compared to later styles by Parisian shoe designers.
In the 20s, women didn't wear sandals. The closest thing were these woven "Lido sandals" - named after the pool area found on cruise ships.
André Pérugia was a shoe designer who made many shoes for the rich and famous. He also pioneered the heel less shoe that has made a reemergence due to Alexander McQueen and Daphne Guinness who made McQueen's version her signature shoe.
Some of Pérugia's fabulous works of art. Love the shoes made of crystals.
These are individually claw-set rhinestones.
My absolute favourite pair with a star burst pattern.
Shoes continued to get more elaborate with rhinestones, cutouts, embroidery but the general style of straps, a low heel and rounded toe endured.
So beautiful! I highly recommend you attend this exhibit if you are a shoeophile like me.
I have to check out of my hotel now. More later.
